Keith Garvey, President of the Jamaica Table Tennis Association, today
signed a three-year sponsorship agreement on behalf of the Association,
with STAG, one of the top international suppliers of table tennis blades,
boards and other equipment.
This agreement will see the Association receiving a total of 30 high quality table tennis boards over the three year period of the contract, 50 dozen balls each year and the annual
sponsorship of gears for thirty players, among other benefits.
This agreement follows on others signed by Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados,
Guyana and a few Central American countries earlier this year.
President Keith Garvey said that “ Outside of international exposure
received by players since the tenure of this executive body, this was
probably the most significant event for the Association, to date, coming
ahead of the 50th Caribbean Championships, which will be staged in Jamaica
from Nov 30 – Dec 6 this year.
There is no doubt that this is a significant boost to the Association and the plans for the Caribbean Championships, as we will be in possession of new equipment in time for
the Championships, and ahead of the championships during the players’
preparation phase”.
Jamaica, according to the ITTF Team ranking posted on its website
(www.ittf.com), is ranked 84th in the world, just ahead of Puerto Rico
(85), Trinidad & Tobago (92), Guyana (107) and Barbados (119).
Present at the signing also was Neville Alexander, parent of Ashley
Alexander, top junior player.
