Badminton: Pan Am Juniors – 8 medals for Jamaica

Jamaica will contest five finals today plus they won three bronze medals yesterday to equal their last year’s eight medal haul in the individual events of the Pan American Junior Badminton Championships, currently being played in Guatemala City.

Eight year old Shane Wilson will lead the way for Jamaica as he contests the three Under 11 finals. His boys’ doubles partner will be Vinson Chiu of the USA who is also his singles opponent and for mixed doubles he will be partnered by Bianca Hall where he will again oppose Chiu.

Last year’s Under 11 Triple Crown winner Sean Wilson, brother of Shane, had to settle for bronze in the Under 13 singles and mixed doubles where he teamed with Jahvaine Henry but he and Samuel Ricketts will go for gold in the boys doubles final.

The other finalists are Gareth Henry and Chadwick Parsons who will contest the Under 19 boys doubles event. These two won the Under 17 doubles gold in 2006. The other medal going to Jamaica was from the pair of Delsang Lue-Taim and Jordan Roberts who won a bronze in the Under 17 boys doubles.
