Cuba Rejects US Report on Human Trafficking
CUBA, June 9, 2008.Cuba has rejected the US State Department’s annual
“Trafficking in Persons Report” released last Wednesday by the US Secretary
of State Condoleezza Rice.
In a statement from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) published
on Monday by Granma news daily, Cuba says the report ignores and distorts
reality in the Caribbean nation.
The document points out that, for the fourth consecutive year, the US
Government listed Cuba as one of the countries that does not do enough to
combat an alleged domestic human trafficking of children and women for the
sex trade.
The report by the US State Department describes Cuba as a sexual tourism
destination and makes other serious and completely unfounded accusations. It
also makes several recommendations to the Cuban government on how it should
deal with this issue.
“The report aims at denigrating the social work and prestige of the Cuban
Revolution and, in particular, its work in favor of women and children,
which has been amply recognized by the international community,” the MINREX
note stresses.
“It also aims at undermining the healthy and increasing development of our
tourism industry, which is completely denied access to the US market,” the
statement adds.
The declaration notes that the US Government, and particularly the
administration of George W. Bush, lacks the necessary morality and
credibility to accuse Cuba and to make any cynical recommendations.
“Cuba does not see any value in the State Department’s report,” the Foreign
Ministry’s statement says. “The government of the United States has a lot to
do in its own country to combat the rampant phenomenon there of
prostitution, sexual exploitation, forced labor and the trafficking of
people.”
“The government of the United States has a lot to learn about Cuba and is
not in a position to judge anyone,” the statement concludes.

New Evidence on Washington’s Links with Terrorists Disclosed
CUBA, May 21, 2008. New evidence on the links between US diplomats based in Havana, Cuban mercenaries and terrorists resident in the United States was disclosed on Tuesday during the prime time TV program The Round Table.
New proof was presented by the panelists on the complicity between
mercenaries in Cuba and Miami and US diplomats with the Interests Section in Havana who try to subvert the Cuban government, an action that violates all legal and diplomatic regulations.
A video recording shows the subversive activities of counterrevolutionary
Martha Beatriz Roque Cabello, her links with other mercenaries, her
subordination to the US Interest Section in Havana and the spreading of lies
about the behavior of Cuban authorities an element often used to spread
their subversive propaganda.
Lazaro Barredo, director of Granma news daily, read several e-mails between
Roque Cabello and her relatives and friends in Miami in which her request
for monetary assistance and money remittances from Cuban- born terrorist
Santiago Alvarez Fernandez-Magriña – currently jailed in the United States
on weapons charges which he intended to use in violent actions against Cuba is a recurrent element.
The panelists also disclosed evidence of her links with the embassies of
Slovakia and the Czech Republic in Havana, where she uses their Internet
services to communicate with Miami. They also presented proof of her
aspirations to receive the Nobel Prize, as a reward for her misdeeds, and
her links with Michael Parmly, head of the US Interest Section in Havana,
who is also an emissary in the remittance of money from US-based terrorists
to counter-revolutionaries in Cuba.
Evidence was also disclosed by the Director of the State Security Historic
Investigations Department, Manuel Hevia, showing that other ringleaders of
counter-revolutionary groups, including the so- called Ladies in White,
receive money from these terrorists who live in the United States.
Receipts signed by counterrevolutionaries Jorge Luis Perez (Antunez) and
Vladimiro Roca as well as by the leader of the so-called Ladies in White,
Laura Pollan, were also showed by the panelists.
In other messages, Roque refers to other counterrevolutionaries who receive
money from Santiago Alvarez Fernandez-Magriña, such as Rene Gomez Manzano and Felix Bonne, whom she called undignified
and shameless.
For his part, journalist Reynaldo Taladrid gave details of the legal basis
supporting the Internet-related investigation carried out by the Cuban
authorities.
Meanwhile, regarding the decision of the US government to reduce the
sentence of Santiago Alvarez, jurist Julio Fernandez Bulte said that trying
to overthrow a legitimate and democratically elected government can not be
regarded as a legitimate action, but it is a flagrant violation of
international laws.(Cubaminrex-ACN)
Cuba Proves New US-Mercenary Ties
CUBA, May 20, 2008. Cubans are centering attention on the denounced funding of terrorists and counterrevolutionaries with the support of US diplomats, and the announced existence of new evidence on those links.
Local papers reproduce proof shown by Colonel Adalberto Rabeiro, chief of
the Interior Ministry”s direction of criminal investigations and operations,
who yesterday demonstrated how terrorist Santiago Alvarez funds those
groups.
Today, the second part of the radio-TV roundtable broadcast will disclose
new evidence on the link between mercenaries in Cuba and terrorists in Miami and Washington.
The Foreign Ministry”s director for North America, Josefina Vidal, and the
director of the Center of Historic Investigation of State Security, Manuel
Hevia, had previously presented large evidence in press conference.
A total of 14 pieces of evidence resulting from investigations by the
mentioned institution corroborate the links between counterrevolutionary
Martha Beatriz Roque and Alvarez, currently imprisoned in the US.
Similarly, videos and email correspondence showed the role of “vulgar
couriers” by the head of the US Interest Section in Havana, Michael Parmly,
and other US officials.
The diplomats acted as messengers in the transfer of money sent to Roque and other mercenaries paid by Washington, Hevia denounced, and added
investigations will go on.(Cubaminrex- PL)
Cuba Proves Links US Diplomats-Terrorists
CUBA, May 19, 2009. Cuba denounced on Monday the scandalous links between US
diplomats based in Havana and terrorists resident in the United States, by
means of which Cuban counterrevolutionaries receive financial and material
support.
Over a dozen e-mails and a video recording were presented as proof by the
Director of the State Security Historic Investigations Department, Manuel
Hevia, in a news conference at the International Press Center (CPI) in
Havana.
The evidence shows the brazen connections between Cuban-born terrorist
Santiago Alvarez Fernandez Magriñat and Michael E. Parmly, head of the U.S.
Interests Section in Havana, in supplying sums of money to a female
counterrevolutionary in Cuba.
For this illegal operation they used an alleged foundation called Rescate
Juridico, apparently a non-profit organization devoted to providing help,
including food, clothes, and money.
Josefina Vidal, head of the North American branch of the Cuban Foreign
Ministry, said at the news conference that for several years Cuba has
repeatedly denounced the subversive actions organized, promoted and
sponsored by the US government and by enemy organization based in that
country.
According to Vidal, a recent investigation by local authorities showed
irrefutable evidence on a new qualitative fact, something she called
unusual and scandalous: US diplomats with the Interests Section have
served as emissaries in the remittance of money from US based terrorists to
counter-revolutionaries in Cuba.
The Cuban diplomat stressed that for the first time her government has
evidence that US representatives have served as vulgar go-betweens at the
service of a notorious terrorist, currently jailed in the United States on
weapons charges, which he intended to use in violent actions against Cuba.
We are talking of no other than notorious terrorist than Santiago Alvarez
Fernandez Magriñat, who manages to send money and material help from prison to mercenaries in Cuba, with the support of Michael E. Parmly, said Vidal.
The Cuban government, she noted, has always condemned as illegal the use of federal funds to promote counterrevolution within the country, and the
direct role of the US diplomats in Havana in their distribution to local
mercenary groups.
The investigation, said Vidal, has proved that heads of counter
revolutionary groups in Cuba influenced the reduction of the penalty on
Santiago Alvarez by presenting him as a benefactor of mercenary groups in
Cuba, which is in tune up with Washingtons policy, and not as the terrorist
and benefactor of terrorists he truly is.
The Cuban diplomat raised the question of whether the Bush administration,
which advertises the war against terrorism as the corner stone of their
foreign policy, knows that their top diplomat in Havana is collaborating
with a notorious terrorist.
Vidal also considered it worthy to wonder if this collaboration between US
government officials and terrorists is a new policy and a part of the
infamous secret annex of the Bush Plan against Cuba.
By doing this, said Josefina Vidal, Washington is not only violating Cuban
laws and sovereignty but also international conventions on diplomacy and the fight against terrorism.
For his part, Dr. Manuel Hevia explained about the investigation and
presented some evidence of the new US interference in Cubas internal
affairs. The research, he said, abides by national and international laws on
the war against terrorism, and the evidence has been properly legalized by
Cuban authorities.
The terrorist Santiago Alvarez, said Hevia, is well known for his
participation in mercenary attacks on Cuba in the 1960s and 1970s, and for
his direct links to the assassination attempt on Cuban former President
Fidel Castro in Panama on 2000.
Alvarez was also responsible for armed infiltrations into Cuban territory in
2001, said Hevia, who went on to mention phone conversations with fellow
terrorist Yosvani Suris, where he instructed the latter to go inside the
Tropicana Night Club in Havana to throw two cans of C-4 explosives.
According to the Cuban official, Alvarez also led the operation to smuggle
terrorist Luis Posada Carriles into US territory.
The ongoing investigation process has gathered considerable evidence, and
proved the ways and modus operandi used by Alvarez to introduce money into Cuba by means of emissaries who deliver it within the country to internal mercenaries, Hevia added.
Finally, Josefina Vidal reiterated the seriousness of the facts denounced by
Cuba on Monday, which reveal that the US Interests Office promotes and
meticulously monitors activities aimed at provoking and causing public
disorder.
The Cuban government will continue investigating and denouncing these deeds, for their illegal nature and because they pose a threat to internal peace and stability, concluded Vidal. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
